Unit Title: La Familia / The Family
Unit Summary: In this unit students will learn about a very important element in life, family! Students will learn the Spanish vocabulary words of the various titles family members may have. For example, “mother”, “father”, “daughter”, “brother”, etc. After learning the basic vocabulary terms for family members titles, they will be taught how to correctly pronunciate the word in Spanish, and practice how to write it. Students will have projects throughout this unit having to share with a class (through a YouTube video) a presentation on their family or a famous/TV family’s titles. For example, if a student chose to do their project on Modern Family, somewhere in their presentation they would have a picture of Jay and below it would say “Jay es el papa de Claire y Mitchell” (Jay is Claire and Mitchell’s father). When learning pronunciation, they will have an oral quiz, and a voice thread assignment describing family members of an assigned family. For the written part of this unit, students will have a multiple choice and short essay quiz.
